How to Make Calls Using Your 1CC Account

Net2MAX Universal Numbering System

Your 1CC Internet phone account is a nomadic number. As such the regular phone system can not differentiate which country it is calling from.

1CC has to determine whether the call is destined for another 1CC (internet phone) or one of the regular phone (PSTN) or mobile (3G, GSM, CDMA) networks.

1CC internal numbers are formatted in the following way:

System Number + Network Number + Account Number
eg 899 060 123000

where:

  • The 899 or 898 prefix is called the System Number. They identify Net2MAX as the platform and function in a similar way to the country code in a regular phone number.
  • The 060 part is called the Network Number and is likened to the area code in a regular phone number. The network code and may be different for special advanced features.
  • The 1CC Account Number is the unique part that identifies you, the end user. Your account number is addressed like an extension on a huge global PABX.

Direct Calls to Internet Phones (899 prefix)

The Net2MAX platform identifies the 899 prefix as an Internet Phone Call and that it should be pointed DIRECTLY to the device with that account number in it.

- Call 899 060 123000 to go to the Internet Phone for account 123000

Routed Calls to Internet Services (898 prefix)

The Net2MAX platform identifies the 898 prefix as PABX Service and that it should be ROUTED to the routing lookup table for that account number.

- Call 898 060 123000 to go to the SmartFone PABX for account 123000

Calls to PSTN (regular) & GSM (mobile) Phones

Dial ALL calls to PSTN (the regular, but now OLD technology) phones or GSM (mobile) phones using full international format eg Country code + Area Code + Local number.

- Call an Australian Landline - Was 02 9999 1234 :: Now 61 2 9999 1234
- Call an Australian Mobile - Was 0414 999 123 :: Now 61 414 999 123

From an Internet Telephone: Lift the handset then enter "0" (zero)

From a Softphone: Enter "0" then click "Dial"

If using a Grandstream device (phone or ATA) you can press # (works like the Enter key) after the 0 to speed up the dialling process.

Voicemail

How to Retrieve Voicemail by Phone

Voicemail can be retrieved by calling your own Smart PABX from your Internet phone.

YOUR Internet number is initially setup as the PABX Administrator. You can add or delete numbers as desired.

When you call YOUR PABX from one of your registered administrator numbers, either by calling your SIP PABX number (898...) or any one of your PSTN alias numbers, you will automatically be redirected to the PABX Administrator Menu. By default this is setup to jump into the Retrieve Messages menu.

How to Retrieve Voicemail by Email

If you have entered your email address in the PABX messaging settings (setup to your primary email by default) then you will also receive an email sent to this address with a voice file (.WAV format) attached.

WAV files can be played by most PCs and MACs using their audio player. This audio file can also be stored for archival purposes or sent (internally or by attachment) to other people for them to hear.

Things to be Aware of...

Which Calls are FREE?

1CC Calls are ONLY free of call charges if you connect directly between 1CC user accounts or services.

If you call out to a NON-SmartFone (or non-Net2MAX) service (referred to as "Off-Net"), or divert a call or service off-net using your Web PABX or similar, then expect to be charged a low connection fee.

Please review our rates for more. Call rates are subject to change without notice.

Costs of Re-routed Calls using your Web PABX

If your Web PABX diverts an inbound call to a SmartFone Internet Phone Number (such as your work or personal Internet Phone Number) or SmartFone Service (such as an audio conference) then you pay no additional SmartFone call fees.

If your PABX diverts an inbound call to a PSTN or mobile/cellphone number then you will incur the appropriate call fee (on your SmartFone call account) as if you made the call yourself from your own Internet Phone.

Either way, your calls will be cheaper than regular PSTN calls, people can find you wherever you are, and you can reprogram the Web PABX call route logic in a matter of seconds. You can do that by editing a webpage in your User Control Panel (or via advanced messaging options like SMS, IM or email etc)

VoIP (SmartFone) Uses More of Your Internet Account's Bandwidth

When using VoIP/SIP technology, your internet bandwidth consumption will increase marginally because your calls are "streamed" over the internet to the other party in a similar way to streaming and audio file from a website. The main difference is that it streams in both directions at the same time.

If your ISP does not supply you with consistent bandwidth or not as much as you paid for then you may experience interruptions to this stream. These interruptions to the bandwidth may appear as "jitter", "gurgling", "stutter", echoes and/or dropouts (blank space or "dead air")

Typical use for a single SIP phone call is 30 kbps each way (using the default codec - 729) but it could be as much as 100kbps each way if you choose a business grade connection (PCM-711 codec).

If your internet connection is 256/64 (256kbps up and 64kbps down) you will be capable of making up to 2 SIP calls at the same time (that includes you making a 3 way call which is actually 2 calls joined together in your ATA or softphone)

If you need to make more simultaneous calls (eg. a small office or a home with a number of people) you may need to upgrade your ISP broadband account.

Visit our broadband consumption calculator to find out exactly how much bandwidth you will need to have available for your situation.

Never Pay for a Phone Call Ever Again!

Remember... your calls will be free of any 1CC call fees when calling to (or receiving calls from) other 1CC subscribers from YOUR 1CC account. It doesn't matter where you or they are on the planet and they don't even have to be people you know!

So... get on the phone and call all your friends NOW. Suggest they visit YOUR website [!URL!] and register right away... and never pay for a phone call ever again!

Try 1CC for FREE

Anyone can register for a free 1CC account before committing to a paid account, however if they wish to make calls to a PSTN (regular) or GSM (mobile) phone numbers they will need to upgrade to a paid account.

Email Correspondence

We update and notify you of system changes and confirmations of subscriptions made through your SmartFone User Control Panel.

If your email service is a bit slow, our emails might take up to 20 minutes to arrive. Most people will usually get them in a few seconds.

If our confirmation email does not arrive, your ISP, email service or spam filter may have filtered us out. In this case, check your trash or junk mail folder. Please also whitelist our email support@mySmartFone.com to ensure you get notifications from us.

Definitions

PSTN - Public Switched Telephone Network - What we have come to understand as the "regular" phone service or the POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service)

SIP - Session Initiation Protocol - SIP numbers are "Internet" numbers. Currently there is no international standard for Internet phone numbering BUT there ARE SIP standards that all carriers should adhere to. We differentiate ourselves by starting all Internet phone numbers with 899 to simulate a country code. We also use 898 as an alternate code to indicate the ROUTED

ENUM - Electronic Numbering System - Because every VoIP company uses a different numbering system. They can connect all THEIR customers for free because they are all effectively on the one (proprietary) system. This, however makes it difficult for one VoIP company's customers to talk for free to another VoIP company's customers. ENUM solves all that by building a translation database that your VoIP company should look at first. SmartFone is (to our knowledge) the ONLY VoIP service in the world that can easily interface between VoIP/SIP service providers. Our Smart Web Dialler does all the number conversion for you.
